Η Netflix proceeded with a new price increase in USA, raising the cost of all its basic subscription packages. The change concerns both the ad-supported package and the Standard and Premium plans, with the new charges already appearing on the service's official pricing pages.
New prices for all plans
After the adjustment, Standard with Ads increases to $8,99 per month from $7,99. Standard without Ads increases to $19,99 from $17,99, while Premium now reaches $26,99 per month from $24,99. The new prices apply to the US market and are already reflected in Netflix's official help center.
Changes to extra members as well
The increase isn't limited to basic plans. Netflix has also adjusted the cost for additional members, with the relevant fee set at $7,99 per month for the ad-supported option and $9,99 without ads, depending on the available account setup.
The first revaluation after January 2025
This is Netflix's first horizontal price increase since January 2025, which shows that the company continues to raise average revenue per user in its largest market. The new move comes at a time when the platform is expanding its content into more formats, such as live, events and other forms of entertainment, attempting to support the further development of the service.
What it means for subscribers
For users in the US, this development means that Netflix is becoming more expensive at every subscription level, with no longer a lower ad-free option like Basic, which was withdrawn in previous years. Thus, the cost of entry remains relatively low only on the ad-only plan, while for those who want the full ad-free experience, the monthly charge increases significantly.
The question now is whether this strategy will remain limited to the American market or whether it will herald similar changes in other countries.
