Starlink vs Cosmote & Nova 2026: Price Comparison

In March 2026, Starlink completely restructured its residential packages in Greece — introducing three new pricing tiers. At the same time, Cosmote and Nova announced their own increases. What does this mean in practice for the Greek consumer looking for reliable broadband in 2026?

The new Starlink packages for Greece: What changed?

Until the end of 2025, Starlink offered a single home plan with a relatively high price. As of March 2026, the introduced three different tiers for home users in Greece, finally giving options to those who don't need maximum speed.

  • Starlink 100Mbps: €29/month — capped speed, ideal for basic use
  • Starlink 200Mbps: €39/month — for 4K streaming and working from home
  • Starlink Max: €59/month — maximum available speed, no cap
  • Standby / Backup Plan: 5€/month — for businesses that want a backup connection

It is worth noting that Starlink now also offers Direct-to-Cell functionality, which makes it even more attractive for remote areas. Learn more in our detailed guide: Starlink Direct-to-Cell in Greece.

Cosmote 2026: Prices and 2,6% increase

Cosmote announced a 2,6% increase in fixed contract fees from the beginning of 2026, based on 2024 inflation. This is the second consecutive year that the country's largest provider has burdened its subscribers through an adjustment clause.

Cosmote VDSL

  • VDSL 50Mbps: 22,90 € / month
  • VDSL 100Mbps: 24,90 € / month

Cosmote (Optical Fiber)

  • FTTH 100 Mbps: 23,71 € / month
  • FTTH 300 Mbps: 27,90 € / month
  • FTTH 500 Mbps: 31,90 € / month
  • FTTH 1 Gbps: 35,90 € / month
  • FTTH 3 Gbps: 70,39 € / month

Cosmote remains the cheapest provider at low and medium speed levels, but significantly raises the price at high tiers — especially at 3 Gbps where it reaches €70.

Nova 2026: Increases and new packages

Nova followed Cosmote, announcing significant increases and restructuring of packages effective from April 2026. Of particular interest are the 5G Home Internet plans, which constitute a serious alternative in areas without fiber optics.

Nova VDSL

  • VDSL 50Mbps: 26 € / month
  • VDSL 100Mbps: 29 € / month

Nova FTTH (Fiber Optic)

  • FTTH 100 Mbps: 29 € / month
  • FTTH 300 Mbps: 26 € / month
  • FTTH 500 Mbps: 29 € / month
  • FTTH 1 Gbps: 35 € / month
  • FTTH 3 Gbps: 54 € / month

Nova Home Internet (wireless)

  • 4G Home Internet 30 Mbps: 22 € / month
  • 5G Home Internet 100 Mbps: 26 € / month
  • 5G Home Internet 300 Mbps: 26 € / month (with free Wi-Fi Mesh)
  • 5G Home Internet 500 Mbps: 39 € / month

Notable: at 3 Gbps, Nova charges €54 versus Cosmote's €70,39 — difference of 16€ per month, which adds up to €192 per year.

When is Starlink worth it and when isn't it?

Starlink is not the cheapest option — that’s for sure. At the same Mbps, Cosmote and Nova clearly win in price, with a difference of €5 to €30 per month. However, the number alone doesn’t tell the whole story. .

Choose Starlink if:

  • Do you live in island, mountainous or rural area where fiber optic or fixed DSL does not reach
  • You work remotely and you need uninterrupted connection regardless of location
  • Do you have a second home or a vacation home and want internet without a monthly commitment?
  • You want to backup connection for your business (Standby Plan at €5/month)
  • You travel frequently within Greece — Starlink works with portability

Stay at Cosmote/Nova if:

  • Do you have access to FTTH (fiber optic) at your place of residence
  • Price is the main criterion and you don't need portability
  • Do you do online gaming or video calls where the low latency (5ms) makes a difference
  • You don't want to pay a one-time fee of €199–€500 for equipment

The hidden cost that no one mentions

When comparing prices, you also need to consider the total cost of ownership. Starlink has a higher one-time equipment cost, but does not require a 24-month contract. If you stay for 2 years with a 199€ antenna cost + 39€/month (200 Mbps plan), the total cost comes to 1.135€.

Accordingly, a Cosmote FTTH 300 Mbps plan at €27,90/month for 24 months reaches 669,60€ — almost half the price for 50% higher speed, as long as FTTH is available in your neighborhood.

The truth? For urban users with FTTH access, Greek providers clearly win. For the rest of the population — and Greece has hundreds of islands and mountainous communities — Starlink is often the only decent choice.

Conclusion: Which one do you choose in 2026?

There is no universally “better” option. If you have FTTH available, Cosmote or Nova win in cost. If you live outside the urban network or want flexibility, Starlink — especially at €29/month for 100 Mbps — has now become a realistic option rather than a luxury. The market is moving fast and competition, albeit slowly, is starting to bear fruit for the consumer.

I translate bits and bytes into plain Greek. I love technology that solves problems and I'm always looking for the next "big thing" before it becomes mainstream.
